and we were drawn from noodles...

It is the sound of a piece of mechanism shuddering against the plaid cushion, its silence and not its shameless tune is what makes his eyes blink a few times in front of a white display that is resting on top of his stomach. Out of forced meditation, his fingers flex and then pause, marooned over a number of systematically aligned keys, waiting for a series of instructions from that particular side of his brain.  He wonders a bit if it’s good, it is, but the display, again taunts him to no end so he only heaves one muted breath.

A drabble of 100-words, my welcome to everyone. I should be doing my paper but I can't help it! Again welcome to all of us and have fun!

BJK is definitely not just your ordinary sisterhood. We are different individuals intertwined by a myriad of shared interests, aspirations, and the core of all likenesses, JAPAN. Even within ourselves, we are convinced that our little group would not exist if it wasn’t for Japan – the place where all our dreams began. Back here in the Philippines, a new chapter has begun for us and we are determined to make the most out of it.

But for those who are wondering, what exactly does it mean to be a part of BJK? Who are we and what do we do? We say: The serious and relevant stuff – yes, we have a few; but for fun – like a lot!

B
  • Beauty + Brains + Talents.

Bijutsukan was coined from the blending of bijin “beautiful (person)”, jutsu “technique" or "skill”, and kan meaning “mansion or a place where there is…” All of us have various talents and we excel (ahem) in all of them. We boast of leaders, honor students, athletes, artists, poets, musicians, dancers, and, needless to say, entertainers. Haha!

  • Bizznizz.

Like we said, we are in for the serious stuff. We are actually thinking of putting up businesses in the (near) future. Yes, we do have a lot of ideas. Brilliant ideas. We thought of event-planning, bicycle rentals, ramen shops, etc.

  • BFFs.

Our personalities may be poles apart but Japan has genuinely bonded each and every one of us. The many stories of our experiences, though most are unshared, in our one-year exchange program in Japan have been the key to our deeper connection and understanding of one another.

J
  • Joined forces.

As a crew, we look out for one another. We trust and support everyone in the group. It’s just that we love doing things together because we’re all twisted in the same way. Haha!

  • Joketime.

Although we can get really serious on some matters, we always make it a point to always let MORE good times roll. We like to do silly things together, some bordering on what a few would call ‘insanity’.

  • Japan, Japan.

Of course, it’s the subject of 99% of our discussions. Haha! It’s where everything began and the actual foundation of BJK. Our goal is to let everyone ‘experience Japan’.

K
  • Kwentuhan. (Eng: chats, gossiping)

The conversations and tattletales are essential to the foundation of relationships. As for BJK, we never run out of something to talk and laugh about. Sometimes we talk of sensible matters but most of the time we talk of pointless things. xoxo

  • Kain. (Eng: to eat)

With every discussion and story-telling comes food. Our kwentuhans are, in fact, food trips as well. Trivia: The concept of BJK was formed while the members were at a food kiosk, eating noodles. Therefore, food trips are considered as significant group activities and food shops or restaurants are our meeting places.

  • Kulitan moments. (Eng: naughty moments)

We do a lot of crazy stuff on one another and to other people as well. Pranks, bullying (in a funny way), jokes, and childish connivance are not rare to us. Other people know how silly and naughty we are that, most of the time, they tend join the bandwagon. We just love having fun!

So... BJK actually makes sense, doesn’t it? Haha!

"Madness?!? THIS IS BJK!!!"
